The first full day of convention started with activities for athletes and authors, as the Marathon was held early in the morning followed by the popular Essay contest. Those not involved in either of those competitions had the opportunity to catch one of several seminars or just get a few extra winks of sleep. All delegates, of course, donned their state's T-Shirt in keeping with the theme of the day - 'Make a State-ment'.
All conventioneers - you wouldn't dare miss a General Assembly, would you? - met at 10:15 in McAllister auditorium for the second assembly of this convention. The agenda of this assembly included the Roll Call of states. Other presentations included the recognition of the Website Contest winners, the National Latin Honor Society scholarship recipient and the announcement of the Publicity Contest awards. Neha Patel, NSCL Vice-President, finished up the official business by leading the Olympika participants in the Olympika Oath.

The afternoon included events to appeal to just about every convention goer. The academicians had a second contest session including the Reading Comprehension, Latin Literature, Roman History and Ancient Geography examinations. Coinciding with the contest session was a number of classical workshops with a modern theme, including one investigating Latin roots in the Harry Potter series of novels.
Creative arts participants were especially busy today as both the English Oratory and the Dramatic Interpretation competitions were held almost back to back, leaving just a brief hour for some participants in both activities to catch a quick bite to eat at Bruff Commons.

Olympika competitions today included the start of the Ludi Chess tournament, Ludi Basketball (with the District of Columbia emerging victorious), and the swimming events, the latter two held in the Reily Student Recreation Building. The facility would also play host to Ludi Volleyball later in the week and had several pool and ping-pong tables which other delegates took advantage of during some of the rather infrequent periods of free time.
Voodoo on the Bayou was the theme for this evening's dance, while as an alternative activity a movie was shown in McAllister auditorium. Students headed back to their respective fellowship locations about 11 p.m. this evening with a call to floors at midnight.
