This year's modified convention schedule left the fifth General Assembly as the last official convention activity. This assembly was divided into two main segments: the recognition of additional achievements at convention and the passing of the torch from the present to the new officers and from the host state of Oklahoma to next year's host, Louisiana.
Doug Landry, the 2nd Vice-President and President-elect, presented the spirit contest awards. Massachusetts captured top prize for the large states, while Louisiana and Kansas won for medium and small states, respectively.

Mr. Ed Long, NJCL Contest Chair for Certamen, presented the Competitive Certamen awards, including the Maureen O'Donnell trophy to the Upper Level Certamen champions, the team from Florida composed of Colleen Beck, Katie Berry, Sam Crayton, Ben Straub and Andy Walby. Along with the trophy comes a $500 prize donated anonymously by a friend of JCL.

Sam Crayton was in the spotlight once again as Gaylan DuBose, NJCL Academic Contest Chair, presented him a $500 award for having the top score on the Academic Decathlon test. David Camden of Virginia was presented the Lillie B. Hamilton Achievement Award, for an unprecedented third consecutive time. This award is presented to the delegate at convention who achieves the highest number of individual sweepstakes points in at least three of the four contest areas (viz. Academics, Creative Arts, Graphic Arts, and Olympika).
Following the presentation of these awards, the current NJCL officers provided their final reports, and Doug Landry, the new NJCL President, delivered his inaugural address. That left only the passing of the torch and a multimedia presentation of the highlights of convention to finish up this final assembly. Upon adjournment of the convention, delegates made their ways back to their respective dorms for final packing, check out, and boarding busses and airport shuttles.
