Toga Time Warp Day opened with an early morning running of the Marathon. An inadvertent routing mistake resulted in a second running of the race, with Tyler Jonas and Misha McDonald capturing the crowns for the junior division, and Jeffrey Benford and Christy Crais emerging as champions in the senior division. In the first race, later dubbed the 'Mini-Marathon', Nathan Blecharczyk and Sogol Javaheri took top honors.
Following the marathon, all gathered at the Lloyd Noble Center, in full Roman dress, for the fourth General Assembly. This important assembly included the casting of votes for next year's NJCL officers. While the votes were counted, the NJCL chorus presented its program for which the group had been practicing all week. Additionally, Sterling Darling, the NSCL Vice-President, presented the Ludi awards. These awards were followed by Louisiana's formal invitation to the 2001 NJCL Convention to be held at Tulane University.

After the Louisiana delegation's invitation, it was time for each of this year's officers to announce their successors. For the office of Parliamentarian, neither of the two candidates received a majority of the votes. As specified in the NJCL Constitution, this meant that applications would be taken for delegates interested in this office and it was up to the other newly elected JCL officers to pick the new Parliamentarian. After several hours of early morning deliberations, Jean Kim of Tennessee was selected as the 2000-2001 Parliamentarian.

Upon the conclusion of assembly, delegates filed out in order of state and province, forming the traditional procession to the Roman Banquet and Day in Old Rome activities. This year's procession was a fairly direct route taking the over 1400 classically-clad delegates from the Lloyd Noble Center to Burr Park, across from the dormitories. In addition to the Rent-a-Roman sale, the Oklahoma delegation had some additional activities set up for the delegates to enjoy, including a velcro wall, calf-roping, and a Roman marriage ceremony - complete with the taking of the haruspices!

Mid-afternoon, those teams in both the competitive and the open certamen finals doffed their tunics, togas, and bedsheets and returned to Dale hall for their respective final matches. This year the Florida teams swept each of the three divisions (novice, lower, and upper).
This year's unique event was Romecoming, a pageant of sorts, in which a new Mr. and Miss JCL were crowned after completing a series of talent (?!) contests.
The remainder of the afternoon provided some rare moments for relaxation as the only scheduled activity remaining was a fourth session of seminars. Many delegates took advantage of this time to view the graphic arts projects and scrapbooks on display at the aptly named Forum.

The two main events of this last full day of convention are, without question, the Awards Assembly and the NJCL Farewell Dance that follows. (For a listing of the awards presented at the assembly, take a look at the 2000 NJCL Convention results.)
